RobSeace: "I want to sleep in definitely"I read that as "indefinitely", and thought man, there's no need to wish for the sweet release of death just because of bad weather...
TheSneakerWhore: This is stupid. The last ice-storm we had in DFW truly did make driving all but impossible--I lost $1,000 in wages that weekend. I managed to make the 4 block commute, but only after getting stuck 4 times, and could barely get into my parking lot. This, this is just pathetic./Yankee living in Texas--learn to drive in/on the ice.//If it is too dangerous (like 5 weeks ago) stay home.
ColTomParker: Anyone know what the over/under is for car accidents in San Antonio today? I'm betting 500.
Maul555: preview is my friend!!!! gaaaarrrrgggggg!/smashes head into table
Izunbacol: [scontent-b-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net image 720x405]This was posted by KSAT in San Antonio this morning. People at I-410 and US 281 abandoned their cars on an icy flyover. My question... where did they go?I wouldn't want to be on that stacked interchange with ice and no salt. And lets face it - if they salted the roads, San Antonians would be trying to dress Corona bottles and Margarita glasses.
reillan: First ever? What kind of weird conservative school did they go to? Last I remember, SoCal schools closed for rain.
BinderWoman: The other problem with Houston roads & ice is that we having so many elevated roads/freeways (or sections of freeways that are elevated) that it's difficult to get around the city without using an elevated road. And the elevated roads/bridges are the first to ice up. Drivers here rarely see ice so they think if the surface roads aren't icy that the elevated roads are okay to use & they either spin out or get stuck on the overpasses. I enjoyed staying home today & watching the idiot drivers on TV from my cozy bed. Tomorrow we're back to 60 degrees.
tommyl66: lack of warmth: "We may not be the best prepared for it. It was nice to know the school district was."How? They did nothing, and surrendered. France did that, you don't want a school district going full France. It takes being in the heart of the Polar Vortex for our schools to close. Only a few days, their open today.Such a shame a Polar Vortex struck and closed school the day they were supposed to teach there/they're/their, huh?
