I watched my friends dad get blown up this way when we were 8-9ish....it happened right as we were telling him it was a bad idea.

The smell of gasoline brings with it the vivid memory of his dad's palm-shaped-blister flapping in the wind from the wrist, as he waved down the approaching fire truck.

I think it's pretty generous to describe this as an accident.  I know of a few personal injury attorneys who would probably use a different description.

I was almost a Fark headline long before there was Fark. Because I was stupid and thought that I could light a wood fire with propane if I was only careful enough. If there's anyone out there not laughing at how stupid I was and thinking, "I wouldn't have a problem because I'd be more careful." then listen up. You can't be more careful. Propane is too volatile. Believe the warning signs.
