bud jones: TuteTibiImperes: Dr Jack Badofsky: TuteTibiImperes: o'really: In my- admittedly limited -experience, the east asians have a strong taste for whiskey, especially american brands. Jim beam just got bought by a Japanese company.

I just hope they don't screw with Booker's, that's my favorite bourbon.

Have you tried Eagle Rare?  A friend/bourbon hound hoardes the 17 year by the case.

I haven't, but I'd certainly give it a shot.

If you like Booker's, eagle rare 17 will probably taste pretty limp in comparison. I love 'em both, but they are not comparable. Booker's is more "ooomph", ER17 is more "smooooth"

I like Baker's as well, which is a bit smoother than Booker's.  I've heard a lot of good things about the various Pappy Van Winkle products, but I haven't had the opportunity to try any of them yet.

That seems to be the case in most of the world.  As I get older, I drink less hard liquor.  I prefer red wine and full bodied beers.

Deliciousness.  Fine neat, or in a nice Old Fashioned.  Very approachable, a good whiskey for the beginner.  Sweet, aromatic goodness.

Mark Ratner: FDR Jones: Mark Ratner: I now have you favorited as an expert on hard liquor. Is it a hobby, or what? Thanks for the info!

Former bartender. /tips cap

Is it possible to buy a really cheap vodka (Popov), and use coffee filters to make it taste better?

Not coffee filters, they won't do shait to eliminate the impurities at that level.  Paper filters are meant more for particulates like, well, coffee grounds.  What you can do is run crap vodka through something like a Brita pitcher and improve it, but at the rate you burn through filter cartridges, it would be cheaper just to buy the expensive booze to begin with.

I quit drinking a few years ago (preferred Jim Beam Black Label) because of diabetes and I expected you all to take up the slack.

traylor: ransack.: fusillade762: And the UAE is sixth? I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that almost 90% of their population is from somewhere else.

I thought the UAE was a dry country?

Correct. The whole country is just one big desert.
