Danny's hair was a distraction and gang-related

Miami Heat fans are a gang now?

The school official was way out of line and should be severely reprimanded.
The parents should be punched in the face repeatedly for sending their kid to school with the haircut.

I just gave my kind cancer and let chemo do the rest. Saved a fortune on haircuts.

Hah. Schools I went to (70's and 80's Japan) would do this all the time, corporal punishment too.

Boys with too many warnings about violating hair got the buzz cut, girls in the same situation got a horrible rice bowl haircut.

/not that I'm recommending this behavior, mind you

I really have a hard time believing the stepfather didn't give permission.

Hell, I'd rather they shave the kids head and send him back to class if their policy is against crazy haircuts.

I had far too many students sitting in detention instead of the classroom for reasons like that. They're there to learn, go back to class, Billy.

Sounds like a lot of effort went into that haircut. After the first day, the distraction would be gonr. As an administrator I would have left that go.

OK, Danny, listen up. While you may be at that age a little early, boys don't go into heat. And as proud as you may be about what you did, we typically only celebrate the first time when it involves a second person. And we don't normally celebrate by getting a haircut. Got it? Good. Carry on then.

Shave the kid bald, tell the parents that you discovered that his hair was a seething mass of nits and lice and that you needed to take immediate action and avoid being the subject of a Fark thread.

It's the little lies that keep you from becoming a Fark cliche. Well that and being sure to never live in Florida.

Don't know about Fla. but in some states if you do not have a barbers license, you used to get in deep shiat for cutting someones hair.

Does it ever seem like schools are concerned about everything except teaching and making sure children learn? The schools are worried about hair, t-shirts, whether the kid makes a "gun" with his fingers and says "pew pew". My question is, can the kid read?

Sorry but this is unacceptable.   The kid should never been asked or pressured to okay the hair cut under any circumstances.

The counselor should be severely reprimanded and perhaps fired.

The kid's hair cut was certainly dumb and likely distracting, but i cannot  agree with gang related s it is not practical to attempt to ban anything a gang might have co opted.

What should have happened is the kid was sent home with a note saying he was not to return to school with the hair cut her currently had.

Wait till the State barber regulation authority gets wind of it.  The counselor, school, and district will get in trouble for performing haircutting in an unlicensed area.  Abuse a student?  OK.  Give a student a haircut?  You're not licensed?  The location isn't licensed?  Bailiff!  Whack their peepees!

Not that part. I remember when I was being trained to do lice screenings as part of my state licensing as a child caregiver, my black colleagues all responded with puzzlement and revulsion. I asked them about it, and some said they'd never even heard of lice, and others simply said "black folks don't get lice." Apparently the bugs don't like the hair texture.

MMMMMM.  Delicious Facebook comments.  I feel creepy perusing random people's photos and lives.  Particularly creepy because some of the men and some of those men's friends are kind of hot.  I feel like signing on to Facebook and friending them.  And then I can tell this little kid that his forced haircut was not without it's positives, after all, some random perv on the Internet was able to connect with attractive men from across the country.  And then I can bake a cake and inside the cake I'll have a male stripper who can burst out of it and start dancing around in nothing but one of those lame men's thongs.  Why are they called thongs when there's only one of them?  Kind of like shorts and pants I guess.

Really? Is that hair type too dense and curly for lice, or...?

A cousin of mine did have them once, but he's of mixed heritage. He has curly hair capable of a very respectable afro, but they're relatively loose curls. So maybe that's it.

At a certain point, my daughter went bald (auto-immune things but who cares). Good for her, she embraced it and it was what it was. She is smart, got good grades, did not cause any issue at school. People/teachers/administration had problems because she became different but she was who she was. She, regardless, did great. She was/is who she is. She learned a great deal from the teachers who ignored the bald thing and taught. She didn't fit 'normal' but medically she became bald and so, given the norms, was different. But bald was her thing and, whatever the situation, she learned what her teachers could teach. She is wonderful and she survived high school.

Who the hell cares about what shirt you wear, how you cut your hair, how you wear your pants, how you embrace who you are.... if you are learning- good for you. If you are an asshole jerk, get the hell out of the way. If you are an entitled parent protecting your snowflake, fark you. But... if you have a normal kid who might have a thing that might not be normal or a kid who is trying and learning and is not quite normal..... or fark, just a goofy something that might be a bit goofy... bless them and just leave them the fark alone if you can't do any better... or better still, connect with them where they are and, if they have something of a spark of potential, encourage them. At the least, do no harm. At the best, teach. But humiliate, force to conform, belittle, crush, stop.....

FTFA Administrators at Harns Marsh Middle School in Lehigh Acres said Danny's hair was a distraction and gang-related.

Oh, bullshiat. First off, it's not gang related. They're just pulling that line out so people will clutch their pearls and give them a pass.

Second, hair like that is distracting for about 5 minutes, max. I remember in highschool people had different hair. No one failed classes because of it and no one really gave a shiat. Hell, one kid had a red spider web dyed into his black hair. It looked pretty well done. It was cool at the time. For a few minutes. Then no one gave a shiat anymore.

What was a distraction in highschool was the girl with a nipple ring who used to wear no bra and tight shirts. You could see the outline of both her nipple and the ring through her shirt. That was distracting as hell.

Today, as an adult, I dye my hair unnatural colors. I'm also not in the customer service gig anymore. I checked with HR before I dyed it at my current job and our awesome local HR lady said that there is no rule against it (as they'd have to stop everyone from dying their, faux blond office bimbos included. That isn't natural for them either). So I get to have my career doing industrial maintenance and still do my personal decoration thing. And guess what - no one gives a shiat. Everyone seemed surprised at first and gave me playful shiat at first but now no one bat an eye at it. My regional farking manager (my boss's boss's boss) was visiting the plant and saw my hair. She was delightfully amused but didn't have any problem with it.

In the real world things like this is only a problem when an authoritarian doesn't like it and wants to flex their ego.

/I also paint my nails and it's the same thing as the hair.
//No one cares after the first day.
///Straight and male.
