Unless its shoulder joints are connected to its jaw somehow, I think what you're mistaking for a giant gaping maw is actually just matted chest fur.  I viewed it a few times and the mouth seems to be of a normal size for such an animal.

How can something so tiny look so mean?
Also, we now know the inspiration of pokemons and of big eyes on Japanese cartoons.

No, it doesn't.

It's a head with chicken legs.  My first impression was that it was some sort of Warner Brothers cartoon character, possibly after a close encounter with a mallet.

Well to be fair, it's clearly a supervillain. I mean, it spent almost the entire video twirling its mustache.

zerkalo: 2009? So it's dead, yes?

Hard to say but probably.  I was curious about the little guy so I read the Wiki article.  Says they live up to 6 years.  I'd assume that the pygmy variety has a shorter lifespan.  Predators are the usual suspects, foxes, owls, gere and snakes.

Well, you know, viruses can be deadly and you can't even see them without an electron microscope. It's not so much a question of size as it is a question of whether this animal will die if you so much as breath on it. Kinda looks like it might.

The purpose of its existence is to continue its existence, and preferably fark another pygmy jerboa to pass on its genes.

Exactly. The body accounts for so little of the animal that it looks exactly like a big (relatively)-eyed head on legs. Too cute. My three cats wouldn't even bother to eat it after they killed it.
