Mad_Radhu: And THIS is why so many people use Adblock.
letrole: Mad_Radhu: And THIS is why so many people use Adblock. Not really. The reason so many people use adblock is that they're leeches who can't play fair with the most democratic and efficient manner of financing the web.
Big Merl: Wait, so you're saying there are people NOT running Adblock?
Prank Call of Cthulhu: [i42.tinypic.com image 850x73]LOL, not going to happen.
AngryDragon: Quick! SOmeone release another picture of the cute CEO! Stat!
BalugaJoe: What do people do on Yahoo? dunno.
powhound: I run NoScript and AdBlock and still got nailed by something last week. If you happen to run across "Level Quality Watcher", or "Scorpion Saver", they are bad news. Needed the full bag of tricks to clean that shiat out.
Begoggle: "Clients visiting yahoo.com received advertisements served by ads.yahoo.com"HAHA I have that crap blocked 6 different ways
farkingbubbler: A simple banner is one thing. Full blown video w/ sound, pop-ups, pop-unders, click-throughs, animation overlays, side-banner wallpaper... entirely different.
AgentPothead: If you're dumb enough to use yahoo, you deserve what you get.
StreetlightInTheGhetto: That's not as surprising as people actually still using Yahoo./I heard some sports fanatics and overseas folks and old people and hard core users of their first email and some misguided companies still do...//missing anything?
TwowheelinTim: Okay letrole, I'm going to apologize and bump you up to 7/10.You got way more bites than I expected.mea culpa
Bslim: Dafuq is a "yahoo" ?
poodebunker: Bslim: Dafuq is a "yahoo" ?I think that's one of those duck dynasty guys
Yankees Team Gynecologist: letrole: Mad_Radhu: And THIS is why so many people use Adblock. Not really. The reason so many people use adblock is that they're leeches who can't play fair with the most democratic and efficient manner of financing the web.I actually like this trend towards inline sponsored content (marked as such) that takes the same form factor as a site's normal content, and hope it settles in as the standard going forward. The traditional methods of Autoplay flash ads, popups, and popovers are shiat, plain and simple. They're intrusive, slow down performance, exhibit utter contempt for the viewer, and of course are easy vectors for malware. And I can't speak for everyone, but I still pay plenty of attention to TV ads even with DVR. I probably pay more attention since I don't get up to leave and come back. I fast-forward, but stop and watch if something catches my eye. I wouldn't be surprised if DVR has had no negative impact on ad effectiveness, maybe even a positive one. The only thing that suffers are syndicated/rerun shows spammed across the schedule that non-DVR channel-surfers get hooked on because they don't get to watch on their terms.
Nemo's Brother: Drew is smart not to have comments available on sponsored links though. He tried that before and we trashed the company.
