I'm glad that they do this every year, it is a reminder that when times are tough that better days are ahead and that when times are good it is a reminder that in the past things weren't always so rosy. it's also a reminder that no matter what is going on right now that things could be much worse than they are now. I hope that no matter what the future holds for the NYSE that the people on the floor continue this tradition.
