qorkfiend: odinsposse: acanuck: Blah blah blah...absolutely ZILCH reported on what is IN the budget.

How farking useless is this so-called "Free Press" we have?

The Ryan-Murray deal basically takes the continuing resolution we were operating under and formalizes it as a budget. There's also some minor changes to the sequester cuts. That's it. There's barely anything to report on because this budget doesn't really do anything.

It would hardly count as news except that Congress is so farked up that passing an actual budget bill is like watching a guy get out of bed after having been in a terrible car crash. Under normal circumstances it isn't interesting at all but since he's been in such bad shape it is seems like, relatively speaking, a miracle.

So nice of Patty Murray to give Paul Ryan the bipartisan cover he needed. One wonders what she thinks she got out of the deal.

I'm going to guess it rhymes with gig hat daycheck

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is seen as wanting the bill to pass, if largely to avoid another government shutdown.

That's good!

But he isn't likely to cast his vote for it because he is up for re-election in 2014 and fending off a conservative primary challenger, Matt Bevin.

Oooh, that's bad.

But, notably, there is no indication that he is pushing GOP members to block it.

That's good!

But the bill contains potassium benzoate
