Underwater room?  Pfffft, amateurs.  My house is underwater.

That's a lot of money for a bag of cement and a bucket.

FTA: "Reminiscent of the Star Trek Enterprise, the spaceship-like property will be built seven meters above water on five pillars, while the lower deck will be built up to 30 meters below the surface."

Someone needs a copyeditor.

farking awesome, but a concern hit me: the room is accessible from beneath, which means it's sealed from the atmosphere above...  Is there some kind of an emergency hatch that'd help you get to the surface in the event of a window breaking, or some other catastrophic leak?

With regard to pics - even the farking resort only has a couple pics of what should be somewhat of a focal point:

It's only a couple of bit coins.

Are these the fishes and how much for 3 minutes?

That's pretty cheap for accodations like that, even at $750/person. Suites at some of the boutique hotels along California Hwy 1 can go for $3,000-$5,000 a night.

I'm wondering if this place gets regular visits from pirates or something.

Dude, it's going to cost you at least $5k to get to Zanzibar and back by air. As part of a $30k couples vacation a night or two of $750 hotel is going to be a line item, not a major portion.

It was a link to a defunct underwater strip club in Israel.

So your theory is that I wouldn't pay $750 for an underwater hotel room, but I would pay $30k for a couple's vacation in Zanzibar in the first place? What a mean thing to say. And you're insulting my theoretical date, who would certainly have a better appreciation for $30k.

I went to the hotel website.  The place doesn't look as nice as it sounds, other than just being on a beach.  Also I would question how often that underwater suite is inspected for safety.  Take a look at the exterior underwater pic on the website.  It doesn't look like it's maintained as well as it could be.

Unless you just have to sleep underwater for $750/night you can get better.  For $1000/night you can get farking awesome in Vegas.

You're comparing apples and oranges.

Vegas is fun as hell, but it's not getting away from everything and staying at a place that is complete nature porn. If I had a ton of money, that would be my next vacation, wouldn't stay in the underwater room, too small...I'd opt for a seaside villa ($5500 or so for 2 people/10 nights, all inclusive), but as others have pointed out, it'll cost you more just to get there. Plus Vegas would probably cost me more in the end, and be less relaxing.

At first this sounded amazing.

Then it occurred to me that you could probably do this safer in an aquarium-type setting, with more guarantees of awesome fishy displays.

abhorrent1: What a shiat article. Here's some more pics s- in-zanzibar/#4

Took a look at the room's website linked from there. It's nothing but a few empty blog posts and crops of the same images in the article. The only way it could have been more disappointing is if it was just a hard hat man and an "Under Construction" sign.
