Dr. Picklebacon: Page not fully loading for me.Here's a link to the obit that works: http://www.vulture.com/2013/10/read-laurie-andersons-obit-for-husband - lou-reed.html
jso2897: Well done. That's a nice set of words.Death sucks - but love and beauty make life worth all the suffering.Sail on.
Alphax: I remember a Laurie Anderson song or two from the 80's, had no idea she was even acquainted with Lou Reed.
red5ish: I'm a big fan of Laurie Anderson but had no idea she was married, least of all to Lou Reed. I wish her well.
The Muthaship: Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom: Dude had like 2 good songs.Sounds high. Here's my eulogy for him: Sh*tty musician, terrible singer, incompetent lyricist, complete asshole. Pass me a shovel.
SlagginOff: No one has ever dared to be as edgy as you, sir.
The Muthaship: SlagginOff: No one has ever dared to be as edgy as you, sir.Actually, I think my lack of edginess is part of what makes me despise him.
LesserEvil: Alphax: I remember a Laurie Anderson song or two from the 80's, had no idea she was even acquainted with Lou Reed.red5ish: I'm a big fan of Laurie Anderson but had no idea she was married, least of all to Lou Reed. I wish her well.I came here for this.Looks like they married in 2008.I liked Lou Reed, but Laurie Anderson was more interesting as an artist to me.
someonelse: What part makes you be "that guy" in his obituary thread?
Ed Grubermann: Her songs about her father's death are some of the most haunting pieces of music I've ever heard. Been a fan of hers for years.
phenn: Ed Grubermann: Her songs about her father's death are some of the most haunting pieces of music I've ever heard. Been a fan of hers for years.Absolutely. She's an incredible talent.Let X equal X.
markfara: Her first solo collection, "Big Science", is a masterpiece.
exvaxman: Australian news service played an interview they did with him.It was awful for the interviewer. He does not accept fools and ripped her a new one. Including asking if she was going to ask a quality question. Darn but I will miss him just because of that interview.
Dopgang: http://youtu.be/MwpdvkMCIEELou Reed's New York album from '89 just for all you haters talking trash on a revered artist/ RIP Lou// Condolences to Ms.Anderson/// slashies
buntz: OH Superman....ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah
Mr_Fabulous: I'm still not sure if this actually happened, but here's my (possible) CSB...It was early in the afternoon at Lollapalooza 2010. A hot and sunny day, and I was sneaking through the bushes in an area I wasn't supposed to be in, trying to avoid heavy foot-traffic. Coming toward me, also sneaking through the bushes, was an older couple in loose-fitting clothes. She was carrying a parasol.I was two steps past them when it occurred to me... that was Lou and Laurie! No, it couldn't be. He had played a sub-headliner set the year before, but was not on the bill this particular year. But still, that was them. I'm 90% sure. So I turned to say something like, hey, you're Lou Reed, or something even dumber. And I said no, just let the moment pass.To this day, I wish that I'd had something interesting to say in that moment. (Or this one, for that matter.)
douchebag/hater: If Lou was as good as everyone likes to claim it seems to me he would have a sold a few more records. After all there are probably 3 mm people in the US who consider themselves hip to Lou and even THEY didn't rush out to buy his product.Just pointing out the obvious. And yeah, the live version of 'Sweet Jane' from RnR Animal and the song 'Street Hassle' are farking awesome. My point still stands..
