busy chillin': "You're goddamn right."
majestic: We really need an edit button for idiots like me. Concept above.
akula: The Aztek wasn't ahead of its time as much as its proportions were off. If it were ahead of its time people would be saying "You know, this thing wasn't so bad." They aren't. They're saying "Wow, that was one ugly-ass car."The wheels just looked too small for the bodywork. Early versions had WAY too much cladding (Pontiac was in love with cladding then). Lights looked tacked on and the whole "turn signals above the headlights" thing is a VERY difficult look to pull off without just looking bizarre. The fascia was far too aggressive for something that wasn't a sports car. It tried to make like it was a little more civilized Wrangler wannabe when it was just a glorified small wagon on stilts. It was a useful shape and getting rid of the cladding helped the looks, but it still just wasn't really all that well conceived... the thing just looked like it had been designed by committees that never spoke to one another.
WillofJ2: http://wot.motortrend.com/thread-of-the-day-what-if-the-pontiac-aztek - concept-had-gone-to-production-unchanged-192105.htmlAztec looked great in concept or at least much better many more pictures in article[stwot.motortrend.com image 850x531][o.aolcdn.com image 612x344]
loonatic112358: It would have done better as a Saturn without the silliness Pontiac had back then, the Buick sibling of that, the Rendezvous, looked much better
HotWingAgenda: The new Corvette isn't a Stingray, and it's just as farking plastic and ugly as the Aztek. This is a Stingray.[farm1.static.flickr.com image 500x375]Note the distinctive humps over the front wheels. Note the tasteful small back end. Note the unobtrusive door handles, and the pop-up headlamps. Note the chrome. This is how it's done.
