I need to trade in my DOCSIS 2.0 modem for one that supports DOCSIS 3.0. Right now I'm capped at about 32 Mb/sec down, 5 Mb/sec up.

At work, it's 90+ Mbps in both directions as long as there isn't a surf contest going on. If there's a surf contest, half the goddamn office will be streaming the video to their computers, which tends to clog the tubes.

That knock on the door is the NSA with local law enforcement.

We have 1Gbps at work, but the most I've ever seen from it is around 600Mbps uploading to Amazon S3. Still, thats not half bad.

Here's from work... I don't think speedtest can accurately record big bandwidth:

Oh, it's this thread again. We really should be keeping track of the threads so we can see how everybody's speed is improving.

I also think I'm competing with my girlfriend's tablet while she's in the bathroom right now.

Does number of computers on the network matter?

I'm decidedly not a contender. Whatever, it's mostly adequate.

I'm not at home right now, but I usually get about 12-13 Mbps down and 1-2 Mbps up, with about 10ms ping time.  It's just about as good as you can get in Teh County (tm).

we'refromthesamestory: Does number of computers on the network matter?

I wondered about that myself. There are 4 computers (1 pc, three laptops) in our household. Two of them are currently connected. Add in my son's android phone which also uses our network when he's home.

4 down, 1 up, F+, 19%. Using Clear Wireless on a wifi network. Wasn't expecting blinding speed.

One of the few times Verizon has overdelivered.  I had the 30Mbps service but was getting 35.  Went with Quantum (or whatever they call it) that says 50Mbps.  Not too bad.

That 1ms ping is pretty suspicious if you are going to do farkery with the IP stack to fake it. At least make it 25ms.

I'm sure that my ISP treats downloads from known speedtest sites exactly the same as other sites.   Surely they'd never increase connection speeds specifically to those sites to make themselves look better!
