I learned about lungfish from a kids' science book. Apparently they roll up in the mud when droughts come and go into a death-like hibernation. When the water returns, they absorb the water and come back to life.

Unless they die from unnatural causes, they can live forever.

Lungfish are my favorite inedible fish.
