It's equipped with more than 800 solar panels, each of which can support the weight of a human, and which charge gargantuan lithium-ion batteries that are hidden inside the boat's twin hulls and power its two electric motors. When fully charged, the batteries can run the engines for 72 hours without sun.

Sail boats were wind powered and are a proven technology with thousands of years of knowledge to draw from. If you really want an Eco friendly build a sail boat and use that as it's truly based on a renewable resource.

I ran into the Sea Shepard crew when they were down in Australia in Melbourne for a few weeks some years ago. They were busy giving public tours and tooting their horn about how they were green and good for the planet.

I than proceeded to ask why they were in a decades old obsolete ship instead of using a sail boat which used only a renewable resource for power. I got told off that diesel power was necessary to intercept whaling ships.

/They then tried to kick me off the public dock they were docked at.
//That didn't go over well with the policeman who was walking the dock.
///Damn hypocrites.
////Nothing against green technology, just can't stand greenwashing
