(Uproxx)   Bill Murray dresses as Liberace to mark the 20-year anniversary of Letterman's CBS show. He was also the first guest in 1993 and when the show debuted in 1982 on NBC. Absolutely fabulous   ( uproxx.com) divider line

Love him.  He means well here, but he looks like Martin Short, who I also love.

My grandmother LOVED Liberace. I remember she would defend him (probably like his own mother) that he wasn't gay. Swore up and down it wasn't so. She was so angry when the TV version of his life back in the late 80's or early 90's even hinted that he might have had "special male friends".

She denies he was gay even to this day.

/also never admitted her eldest son who lived with a roommate in San Fran, died of AIDS related pneumonia in 1984 was gay.
//he would never do that
///he was such a good boy, beard and affinity for leather be damned

HotIgneous Intruder: Belushi died a little over a month late.

Doesn't surprise me.  He was never on time for anything.

I wanna know how they staged that time capsule bit.  I guess they replaced the platform under Dave's desk.
They sure go all out in preparation for Bill's bits.

I just got my 20th year on the job recognition.
Now I know that Dave and I have sumthin in common.

Man, I created a shiat storm the same way with my aunts back in the 80s, when asked why I didnt want to watch I said 'it seemed too girly' I never saw women defend an effeminate man so much in my life.....

That being said, Bill should give lessons to stars on how to deal with fame, just do what you do and take the allure out of it for everyone else so you dont get mobbed.

Billy Joel was Letterman's first CBS musical guest.  He played "No Man's Land" from what turned out to be his final album, "River Of Dreams".
