Oldiron_79: Bring out your dead
iheartscotch: Oldiron_79: Bring out your dead*Shakes tiny fist*/ he says that he's not dead!
talkertopc: August 2014 Follow up: Dear sir or madam, are you still dead? Are you sure?
Walker: If you reply you don't exist what happens?
Kali76: So the real question is: is the Jersey referenced in the story comparable in any way to NEW Jersey. Discuss.
indy_kid: Gotta love a bureaucracy!CSB: I got my letter to register for Selective Service while floating somewhere in the Caribbean, serving in Navy! Clearly, the databases for the military and Selective Service were - and likely are not - cross-referenced.
To The Escape Zeppelin!: Seems like a perfectly sensible policy to me. It's taxpayer money, I'd be more annoyed if they weren't checking people were still alive. The only ones who sound stupid in this article are the ones claiming it was insensitive.
offmymeds: Because no one would ever lie when it comes to getting free money.
wildcardjack: Puts me in mind of Japan, where after the earthquake they discovered so many of the elderly on record had been dead 10-20 years while pensions were direct deposited it turned out the average lifespan of the Japanese was a lie.
