Diogenes: I knew a couple that had a 12 pound boy. Wife was a tiny, petite little size -3 or something. And she did it with no C-section. She had some pretty serious issues afterwards (internal bleeding).Kid was sweet, though. But big and powerful. He ripped a childproofed cabinet off its hinges. Instead of sucking his thumb he sucked his whole fist. We called him "Damien."
BafflerMeal: I'm pretty sure he goes by 'Sir.'
montreal_medic: My goddaughter was a big girl at birth. About 12 and a half pounds. She then levelled off and is on the thin side at 3. Very tall.My son was just over 3 pounds, and a year later, hes almost average. You just never know
Diogenes: BafflerMeal: I'm pretty sure he goes by 'Sir.'We moved out of state like 18 years ago so he's at least 20 now. I'd kill to see how he grew up.
IdBeCrazyIf: Kid was 9 pounds at birth, except Mrs Crazy suffered through explosive child birth.Yeah, apparently that's a thing. Where labor lasts like in minutes not hours. The kid rocketed through her so fast she ended up having to get stitched back together.
Diogenes: Me too. Mom wanted the drugs but by the time they administered them I was out.
tricycleracer: The bigger question is: who is having sex with all these fat women?125 pounds is considered fat? Maybe in E
Kali-Ma: This is what happens when you have tiny women marrying tall men...My husband is 6'3", I'm 5'3", size 6 (pre-baby). My son got to 6 lbs, 7 oz./19 in long by 8 months and my body decided that he was big enough. If my son had been full-term or, FSM-forbid, late, he would would have been about 10 lbs. The pushing it out wouldn't have been so much the problem as the moving around with it for the last month. I was a beach ball at 8 months and between the baby and the c-section there was some permanent damage to my abdomen (2 minor hernias since the birth).Just babbling. Sooo tired...
Shannara: tricycleracer: The bigger question is: who is having sex with all these fat women?125 pounds is considered fat? Maybe in Ethiopia ...
Don_cos: This is not something that happens just to overweight women. My four children were all large babies, and my wife was not overweight. My daughter was just over 9lbs, one son over 10lbs and two sons over 11 lbs.All three boys had shoulder dystocia resulting in Brachial plexus Palsy (a stretching and damage of the nerves leading to the arms, resulting in paralysis) in two of them (each in one arm). This is a serious issue.

The Singing Bush: We had twins whose combined weight was 12 lbs 9 oz. Does that count for anything?
Civchic: All you skinny girls having big babies, I'm out to bring down the average. Fat mama (no getational diabetes and totally uneventful pregnancies), one born 7lbs 3oz, one born 7lbs 5oz. And they've stayed small. The almost-4-year-old is barely 34 pounds at 40" tall, and the 1.5 year old is still 16.5 pounds and under 28".So not all fatties have fat kids. LOL.
penthesilea: Ten years ago my doctor was worried my son was going to be in the 12+ lbs range at birth. There was talk of inducing labor if I ended up going past 40 wks.Doctor was completely wrong. The kid was barely 5 lbs at birth. I was surprised the doctor was so far off on the estimates. I had an ultrasound just a day or two before.----Oh, just Googled it...Wow. I had no idea that those kinds of estimates are typically inaccurate. Yeesh, I wonder how many unnecessary c-sections are due to that sort of thing?
