Shelbyville: That's what he gets for messing around with the real Murricans in their NASCAR.

I still say that it would be more interesting to put up a lawn chair on the side of the local interstate and watch cars go by rather than watch NASCAR drivers go in circles for 8 hours.

So what you are sayin is, that the real fun of being multuicultural and well travelled is trollin NASCAR threads on the intarwebs?

You haven't watched it in years, but you know the cars are ugly and that seems to matter to you.

Nice pink hat.

And suddenly he will gain pole positions and possibly win a race.  All drivers seem to "magically" perform well once they're looking for a ride.

realityVSperception: Funny how world known drivers consistantly get their ass kicked in Nascar, Montoya, Kimi Raikkonen, Jacques Villeneuve, Nelsn Piquet Jr.

Makes you realize how good Mario Andretti & A.J. Foyt really were in their day

No wonder Schuie thought nascar was 'boring'. Smart enough not to get spanked when everyone
has equal equipment.

I'm not sure you can say that they 'suck(ed)', more lack of experience.  Well, alright, Montoya has the experience _and_ the lack of results, so maybe there.  Nelsinho I'm willing to wait a bit more on; probably won't ever win a championship, might not ever get a Sprint Cup ride, but he at least did it the _right_ way, starting at the bottom instead of jumping in at the top like the rest.  I respect him for that.

As for comparing them to Mario and AJ and the like; different days, different times.  Each sphere of racing is just too specialized now; not a single NASCAR driver could make the switch the other way and expect wins either.  Put Sebastian Vettel, Jimmie Johnson, and Kyle Larson in 410 Sprints, and I'm gonna be putting my money on Larson.  Each form of racing is so different to each other now the days of crossover champions are pretty much over, sadly.  There's no such thing as the 'best' driver anymore.

bluorangefyre: Plus he's Colombian. Surely he owns a coffee field and is making money left and right from that.

It is in these hills where Juan Montoya and his trusty goat gather coffee beans every morning.
