Walker: So the NSA isn't spying on what you search, your employer is. I feel much better now./No, no I don't
Car_Ramrod: Walker: So the NSA isn't spying on what you search, your employer is. I feel much better now./No, no I don'tI can't even look at porn on my work computer anymore? This is bullshiat! What happened to AMERICA?!
Car_Ramrod: They were doing these searches at work? That may have been an important piece of information, lady. I was under the impression they were just lounging about, doing this at their own computers. Goddamnit. Way to cry wolf.
VRaptor117: The reason so many people freaked out is because this incident, which in the past would have been dismissed out of hand or not even reported, is now plausible, The government is watching people like never before, and in the wake of the Boston bombing, you expect law enforcement to be overzealous, just like after 9/11 and people taking photos of government buildings.
mr lawson: Car_Ramrod: They were doing these searches at work? That may have been an important piece of information, lady. I was under the impression they were just lounging about, doing this at their own computers. Goddamnit. Way to cry wolf.At the time of the search, that was the impression the cops gave her. A couple of days later after being informed by the cops otherwise, she corrected her article.
nmrsnr: And I'm sure all those people who jumped to the conclusions of the governments all-seeing eye will just as loudly correct their error, right? That's how journalism works, isn't it?
justtray: I think specifically the guy who was convinced the feds had come because the picture in the article had feds with guns in it. (not realizing it was from the boston bombing situation)
hailin: I hope this incident ruins her career as a shiatty "journalist".
Car_Ramrod: justtray: I think specifically the guy who was convinced the feds had come because the picture in the article had feds with guns in it. (not realizing it was from the boston bombing situation)That was my favorite part of the whole thread. Also, there were 342 comments in the thread about outrage. There are (now) 21 in this thread about, "Oh, nevermind".
computerguyUT: Ahem.... "bullshiat"... Thanks.SO the NSA that's spying on everyone and everything, but wasn't actually "spying" on everyone and everything even though they saved the world 54 times by spying on everyone and everything but never bothered to tell you about it, is only "kind of" spying on everyone and everything, except for this story that sure as hell looked like they were spying on everyone and everything cause that didn't look like "suffolk county cops" in paramilitary gear to me. Is no longer spying on everyone and everything, even though they admitted to being an "anti terrorism task force" and that they performed this kind of smash and "interview" 100 times a week as a result of their spying on everyone and everything.....Is now officially NOT spying on everyone and everything any more. They promise.Well, that's perfectly clear now isn't it.
belhade: When will we be able to safely Google Arizona Iced Tea, Skittles and hoodies?
Diogenes: belhade: When will we be able to safely Google Arizona Iced Tea, Skittles and hoodies?Drink? I'm not sure what to do here. Do you have to say his name? Has he become like Bloody Mary?
SandmanEsq: But ... how did the employer know the searches were run?
Nemo's Brother: Bloomberg and the Total Fark libs better ban backpacks.
HypnozombieX: See it was all a big mis-understanding and you should all be ashamed of yourselves for ever believing that your government would spy on you. No go sit in the corner./at this point it was the most logical conclusion anyone could have drawn.//We're not spying on you, now don't talk about it or do anything to inhibit us spying on you.
tinyarena: Did somebody say backpack?[imageshack.us image 400x325]
anfrind: So if I were to show up at the airport with an electric pressure cooker in a checked suitcase, what are the odds that some TSA agent would freak out?/I get tired of eating out all the time when I travel
