So this guy is the only ice cream truck driver in history not to realize the real money in his job comes from using the route to sell weed.

The fact that for the price of 1 ice cream bar bought from a truck you can buy a whole box from the grocer has always been enough incentive for me to not waste money on them.

Cash business? Interview by the media? Tax officials watch media?

Yes, I only make £8 a day.

Yesterday, my 3 year old niece bought some ice cream from one of the roaming trucks.  Cost me $5, but the experience of buying it really made her light up and tickled her fancy.  Cost inefficient, but it made her day, and that's what matters.  I'll make up the savings elsewhere with scavenged tennis balls and cardboard boxes.

I drove an ice cream truck for three weeks one summer in south St. Petersburg.  I was instructed by the boss lady to concentrate on the "ghetto" areas, because the people there were more likely to spend whatever cash they happened to have.  Not saying that I support her repugnant philosophy, but I cleaned up on welfare check day.

Also they tend to carry cash and aren't afraid to go outside. I've lived in rich and poor neighborhoods and I far prefer the kids in many of the poor neighborhoods, they play outside and have a good time, and stop the ice-cream truck. The rich kids stay inside and play their video games.

It's not the economy. It's the new paranoia. Everyone who drives any kind of vehicle through the neighborhood trying to entice kids with sweet treats is a rapist.

No.  I still buy ice cream, just not from an overpriced, sketchy pedo-bear looking thing.

Besides, around here Mexicans (not racist, a fact) ride around on bicycles selling paletas

Which are delicious.

Well, if this one guy is having problems selling ice cream during a heat wave, then it must be a worldwide problem due to an economic crisis.  Not because his van has roaches or he screams at the kids or his hands are filthy or his product is too damn expensive or...
