Mrs CDK: Thanks all for welcoming Caesar into his forever home! And a huge thank you to my TF donor. You are too awesome!I also has a sads today. My friend who has been fighting brain cancer for the past 26 months lost his fight today. When he was diagnosed with inoperable Grade III Anaplastic Astrocytoma in May of 2011, they were hoping to have 18 months with him. He fought his battle hard with weekly chemo and radiation and was able to enjoy his family and celebrate his life for 26 months. He even hung on to see his new grandbaby, born a month ago. He stopped his treatments about 2 1/2 months ago and 2 weeks ago, he started to go downhill very fast. He lost his battle today. He was a super hero who bravely fought his battle as hard as he could. For everyone fighting cancer, for everyone who has lost a loved one to cancer, but especially for my friend Chad and his family today, I say FU Cancer!! You Suck!
DoomsDayAardvark: As many of you are already aware, I have some very sad news to relate this week, but I'll relate the story for everyone.Tuesday evening, my sweet little Kay began to yowl in pain, and then vomit. He did this twice before he decided to go to his hidey-spot under the basement steps. After a little while, he came out, looking like he didn't feel very good. I was lying on the basement floor with him for a little while, when he yowled and vomited again. At that point, I decided it was time to take him to the vet, but since it was after 10, his regular vet was closed. Fortunately, I live quite close to a 24-hour emergency vet clinic. He was admitted almost instantly. They did some x-rays, and some other tests, and couldn't find anything definitive. They gave him some anti-nausea medication, but it did nothing for him, so they decided they should keep him overnight for pain medication and observation. I got home around 2 in the morning without him. I snapped this pic as I said good night to him.[i445.photobucket.com image 480x640]/side note...This woman is a saintWednesday morning, I was awakened by a call from the emergency vet saying that Kay had taken a turn for the worse, and that I should come see him. He hung on just long enough for me to get there, and have about 10 minutes to say goodbye. I held his paw as he took his last breath and drifted away.[i445.photobucket.com image 640x480]I spent much of the rest of the day sobbing. For a long time, I've used writing as a coping technique. I prepared this obituary for Kay to help myself through it. (Don't everybody click that link at once -- my host probably can't take a farking). It helped, but it still hurts. Many of you have already written kind words on Facebook and in emails. I cannot thank you all enough for the love and support you've shown me in the last few days. There are so many of you that to try to list you all individually is doomed to failure -- the list of who hasn't expresse ...
micromedic: HI EVERYBUDDY!!!Have had a Special Day today!Caturday folk, meet Flower...[imageshack.us image 480x640]Flower, meet the fine folk of Caturday.Flower came to us from Target Builder who graciouisly allowed us to have this sweet girl in our house! She is currently catching her breath under a dresser, but is adjusting well. We in the micromedic house are THRILLED to have her and we're also glad to help Target Builder take care of his precious baby. She is a fine and welcome addition!
DoomsDayAardvark: Speaking of my girlfriend, she finally had a good cry over Kay today. She'd misplaced her sandals, and was ready to blame him for their being out of place... "Who am I going to bicker with now?" It's true. The two of them gave each other a lot of crap. He steadfastly refused to cuddle with her if she was awake or I was available (though he was perfectly happy to cuddle with her mom when she visited), he'd bat at her when she tried to knit, and he'd chase her little craft bags all over creation. In return, I think she only ever actually called him Kay once or twice. It was always some variation on "Stud Muffin" for her. It wasn't a complete week unless she told him she wasn't speaking to him anymore.Which of course means that we, as cat people, know he really liked her. They also shared a love of the color purple. And if we're honest, the refusal to cuddle was "flexible."[i445.photobucket.com image 640x480]/ on her coat[i445.photobucket.com image 640x480]/ back end on my lap, head on hers[i445.photobucket.com image 640x480]/ cuddling under the purple blanket she made for him[i445.photobucket.com image 480x640]/ helping with the knitting.I think we're healing, but it'll be a while before I'm ready for a new overlord.
Salem Witch: We are getting real close to Mike's surgery. He goes under the knife Tues. He has two hernias,Then I have two job interviews on Wed morning with the State.Wish us both luck![imageshack.us image 640x481]
MizMezcalita: Unfortunately, BigHairyGuy and Ialso have a sad in our household this week. Leonardo has been losing weight and just recently was diagnosed with IBS and lymphoma in his small intestines. We worked with the Vet to get him better with steroids, appetite stimulants and anti nausea meds, and things were looking ok. But Tuesday, after he got his daily pills (the sweetie was SO good about taking his pills), he started acting extremely weird. By Tuesday night, I was so worried I called the Vet too see what was going on. She mentioned side effects of the appetite stimulants, and checking the internet we found his symptoms were spot on for Serotonin Syndrome, so we were all set up to take him in Wednesday morning. When we got there, the Vet took a look at him and said he was very dehydrated, and might need some electrolytes, and he wanted to do some blood work and kept him for the day to see how he did after that course of action.Well with a VERY high white blood cell count, and abnormal liver numbers, the Vet did x-rays and an ultrasound, and our poor baby's liver was in very bad shape. About all we could do was to keep him medicated and try to make him comfortable. We didn't feel right letting him suffer just to keep him with us, so Leo crossed the Rainbow Bridge Wednesday evening.Leo was a rescue kitty, and became my Master in March of 2004. BigHairyGuy joined us in 10/2009.Sweet, sassy, cuddly and silly; he leaves a big hole in our lives and in our hearts.[imageshack.us image 640x480][imageshack.us image 635x477]

Time to hit the hay.. tomorrow will be an interesting day...EWWWW you touched them? I had a small gray and white kitty in the driveway when I came in this evening, it stayed there until I opened the gate and then he took off. I have seen him before but Fiona chases him away if she sees him.I have not seen Jack, the midnight dog since last week. I am worried about him now. The lady at the feed store gave me a bag of food for him, he has not come in to eat for four days. I am leaving water out for him with his food. I discovered a little about his past. He used to live with his family in the neighborhood but they moved out and left him and another dog behind. They left the other dog tied to a tree. Someone got the that dog but Jack was left loose and he is afraid of people. They moved MONTHS ago. That is why he is so thin. I put food and water in his old driveway too but I don't know if he is getting it or another dog. The temperatures out here have been dangerous hot for an animal without water. I try to leave shallow pans of it around for the kitties and chickens. And now for Jack as well. Hope he shows up again.
