OtherLittleGuy: The Ernest character I can leave, but all I've heard about Jim Varney was that he was one of the nicest people who was in show business at the time, and he left the world too soon. His Jed Clampett in the "Beverly Hilbillies" reboot was spot-on.
Dwight_Yeast: Wellon Dowd: It is a shame that an honored member of the Royal Shakespeare Company is remembered solely for that character.I feel worse for the guy who played the Sheriff on the Dukes of Hazzard as he had had a pretty good career in doing Shakespeare and theater before that.
