ThePuceGuardian: The foxtrot continues at a more languid pace. (And, to clarify, noone named Charlie has cancer. Charlie is merely the bandleader. "180 bpm" refers to the intensity of the tempo he called.). Dad's been discharged following brain surgery, and is staying with relatives who live handy to the hospital. There is still no telling what the future holds. The biopsy is still not back yet.Wait and see, wait and see. It's like watching the dealer turn over the cards, not knowing if an ace is coming or a Joker. For now, the most stressful part is past. I'm returning home to catch my breath while I can.

Nexxi: geekybroad: Nexxi: Alice lurking in the daylilies. (may have posted this before, I'm on the laptop so I don't have access to much, desktop was damaged by the same lightning strike that took out most of our electronics)[i1193.photobucket.com image 850x637]And...a butterfly from the front yard, this is why it takes me so long to mow the grass, I keep stopping and grabbing the camera :)[i1193.photobucket.com image 850x637]If your pc had the biscuit after a power surge/thunderstorm, it may just be a couple of capacitors on the motherboard that need to be replaced. I know in my city there are a few people involved with our Linux user group (of which I am a member) that will re-solder new ones as a little side business. Likely to cost you $15 to $50, if you can find a local person. Worth looking into and getting an opinion (you can usually see right away if some capacitors are bulging and not looking normal). If you have some experience with soldering, you may want to try yourself (with some help from le internets).I had the same thing happen to me last fall due to power surges in the building (the wiring in here is not great despite the building being only 30 years old). After I got the computer settled out, the first thing I did was go to Costco and buy APC-brand UPS.Wait, this is Caturday.I mean, Meow.According to the person who is repairing it in exchange for fresh homemade cookies, its the ethernet card thingy. Everything else seems to work ok. As he is a former computer tech I'm taking his word for it, my expertise with computers only goes as far as being able to take one out of the box and set it up. Also have someone coming to remove the old satellite dish from the roof, as it seems to be the object attracting said lightning (not the first time its happened). So the only unfixable item out of the many struck (one cable box, modem, router, 3 TVs, power brick to X-box, and computer) is the old dvd player that read all country codes :( Now i ha ...

spinach gunk: It was one year ago today that little Sarah left us....
Real Women Drink Akvavit: Came across that pic and it reminded me - anyone seen/heard from Cretinbob or Domari lately? I imagine they're quite busy with kitten season and all, but I was just curious if they'd been around and I'd just missed it or ???

tigerose: Amazing how our furry little friends steal into our hearts. I am sure that Sarah enjoyed her time with you immensely. And you know, when you hear that faint toe nail clck, or catch a glimpse of fur..she is checking on you, reminding you to smile, and love again.
quantum_jellyroll: lilyspad:Lots of really great posts today! Took me a bit to catch up. Hey QJ! When do we get to see pics of Oscar?? I think I read somewhere along the line that you have a camera with lots of megapickles??? *hint* :D[reneau.smugmug.com image 704x469]
