Combined with the impending comet from hell, I'd say the Mayans were off by a year.

Huh. I hadn't ever thought about it before, but do regions which have summer in January have harsher summers (relative to distance from the equator)? I know the seasons have more to do with axial tilt, but I'm wondering if distance makes a noticeable difference.

Lies, it's all lies.  How can we be in summer and farther from the sun.  You can't explain that.

/Actually in my first day of Astronomy class many years ago, this was the first question the professor asked the class was (I'm paraphrasing) "what causes the season?" and almost the whole class got it wrong.  Made me sad.  Of course I was probably the only senior in there with a bunch of freshman.  I just really wanted to go to the observatory.

Sorry for the horrible sentence structure above.  Should've reread  after I added to that sentence.

Super Son is what my Father used to call my first cousin. Super Dad and Super Mom were unrelated neighbours. There was no Super Daughter, although you'd never know it from listening to my Aunt.

Earth is going to be at it farthest from the Sun. What it's really going to be is a Clark-Kentsun.
