It's not the union. Remember the mass resignation fiasco? It's that MLB simply doesn't care. Every possible bad call situation that people think would get them to change has happened and they still don't care. And they get away with it because of all those "human element!" mouthbreathers.

Here's the real news, buried in the story.

Joe West, president of the World Umpires Association -- the union representing umps -- declined comment Tuesday.

Ladies and gentlemen, the first recorded incidence of Joe West keeping his mouth shut!  Let's hope this is the start of a trend.
