I used to listen to them when I was younger, but now I play those records and can't hear a damn thing.

Shop sells unusual and difficult to find items in a convenient location.

Cue Farker outrage.

The comments live up to this midwesterner's image of New York.

There's a G.G. Allin LP in one of the photos. They should make sure to keep it at a safe distance from the food products unless they want to be shut down by the Department of Public Health.

Cool story.

I liked them before they went mainstream.

Pfft. I published zines back before that store ever opened up. I was also probably breathing before that guy. And that's a nice mainstream baseball hat in that first picture, you conformist. Everyone knows propeller beanies are what's deck now.

The comment section on that article is like a circus of hipster hatred. Hilarious.

It's not as funny when you have to explain the joke, but I was referring to the hearing loss adults experience as they get older than about 25 years old...

And the "Mosquito" ringtone that teenagers are using on their smartphones, so they can hear them but their teachers are oblivious to the tone...

People buy zines? I don't even pick up free ones because they look like they carry herpes or some other STD.
2013-06-20 03:18:58 PM
Pffft, they were has-beens since before the Wombats ever were.
2013-06-20 03:28:18 PM

What's the matter with 'zines? How do you think people of like minds communicated with each other pre-internet?

4 quarters for some reading material for the crapper? Sounds good to me. I don't know if I'm into whatever the skinny jean set is into, but I like a good or even crappy skate or punk zine.  A person who is afraid to pick up free zine because it looks skeevy is a person I am glad I don't personally know.

As a child of the 70s and early 80s I'm getting a kick out of the use of the term "zines".

Printing on pulverized tree corpses is so, like, last century man.

I hate the word zines. It seems like a word ad execs ginned up to appeal to kids.
