Am very impressed that Convair's 240 series is still holding its own, and I've spent a few hours as a passenger in 580s. I used to fly the Blue Goose up to the UP in the summers (ca. 1978) for a smart kids' camp at Michigan Tech, and we stopped at every decent size airport along the way from Detroit to Green Bay, to change planes for Houghton.

Would rather be in a 580 any day than any regional jet.
