FTFA: The Beaver County Times (http://bit.ly/10f8M0a ) reports Thursday that 45-year-old Marcia Settles asked the Ambridge officer to sing the carol during an odd verbal exchange just before her arrest June 4.

Ambridge Sgt. Glen Sovich contends he and Settles agreed on a price for a sex act but before other officers arrived she asked him, "Are you the police?" Sovich denied it and asked Settles the same thing, prompting her to tell him she worked for the CIA and planned to kill him. Then she asked him to sing the song.

You know something has to be crazy if it is in a story about prostitution from "Beaver County, yet "Beaver County" is not used in the headline.

The "Are you a cop" thing doesn't work.  Period.

However, what might work: "I'm sorry, I've never done anything like this before.  Are you sure it's legal?  I don't want to do anything illegal."

Not a lawyer, though.  I do know that cops can't talk you into doing anything illegal.  Also, I know that if a government official tells you that something is legal, they can't then arrest you for taking their advice.
