mbillips: Well, you obviously know a lot more about the ethics of 911 dispatch than I do. I can totally see giggling about something goofy that a mental patient said in a police report, though, from having covered the cops for a newspaper. It's half the items in the Police Blotter column in the local alternative weekly.

There's something to be said about gallows humor, but you don't do it on a recorded line, and you do it after you get done forwarding  accurate information.

If the issue is that she couldn't understand the information being presented to her in the first place, she has no business being behind a dispatch console until she has enough remedial education that she can function there.

If the issue is that she's just burned out, she needs to get mental help through EAP, or take a vacation.

tigerose: I have had more problems with snarky dispatchers than you can imagine. And yet the police want us to watch things in our neighborhoods and call in suspicious things..yeah. So when I called to complain that some asshat had parked 4 feet over my driveway, it was ok, cause I didn't need to go anywhere...the dude only moved when I came out with a tape measure. And a camera...

I hope you didn't call 911 for that.

The funny part is that Subby is just as much of a dumbass as the dispatcher... The caller wasn't saying that  he got stabbed. The caller was the doctor saying his patient told him he stabbed  someone else.

And this confusion is even highlighted in the article:
[The idiot dispatcher] told a cop no assault had occurred and even mixed up the victim and suspect, mistakenly telling police a hospitalized man wanted his home checked because he dreamed he was attacked there.

So, congrats on your green light, Subby. Shame it's such a monumental failure.
