I actually find it a little reassuring that Fox's nuttery can be attributed mostly to a single paranoid billionaire pulling the levers behind the scenes.

Imagine if it were nothing more than industry response to demand in the market.

Yes, I can see why he has no fear of terrorists. Why would any terrorist attack the institution that enables them and supports the political party that doesn't fight them but uses them for domestic political purposes?

FACT: Roger Ailes has a private bathroom with no exhaust fan or window. It only vents to his office. He does because he feels that his "essence makes visitors to the office smarter."

Not really. He taught them everything he knew. Out Foxed (iirc) told the story of how Ailes went to Nixon after Kennedy beat him to do a polish and make him more photogenic and easier for the news to understand for the next election. Ailes came up with the idea to send local stations pre-produced segments on how awesome Nixon was as well as the repeat a lie til it is accepted routine.

I think it was 3 weeks after Ailes left Nixon that Watergate happened. Supposedly, a Nixon guy came up with the idea but Ailes kept stopping it. So after he left, buggy bug bugs for everyone!!!

I find most news sites are like this.  They feel like they're "neutralizing" the libby mclibberson bias of the article.  And by "liberal bias", I mean anything that isn't a full on shrieking mental breakdown directed at Obama.  They're a busy bunch.

FACT: Once as a young adult, Roger Ailes was consuming his usual evening meal of baby seal steak, California Condor breast filets and a Martini made from orphan tears. A short while later, he felt a tremendous pain in his gut and rushed to the bathroom. The result of Mr Ailes' trip to the restroom would not flush. To avoid embarassment he wrapped it up and took it home. This... thing turned out to not only have a pulse, but displayed signs of sentience. Roger decided to raise it as a son. Today this man is fully grown and goes by the name Karl Rove.

How hard is it to smear a guy who got his START in Journalism working for the 70's equivalent of the Koch Brothers on a project explicitly designed to sneak propaganda pieces disguised as news stories into local newcasts?  And one who has had Bullet-porrof glass installed in his HQ building and maintains an extensive private security force out of fears he'll be attacked by "militant gays"?

IIRC, Politico was started by members of the Reagan administration.  The staff is not full-on pants-shiattingly derpy like Breitbart or American Stinker, but they definitely lean right, hence it's a perfect mating ground for the mouth-breathing horde.
