Well this will be fun. These donations and maybe a slight bump in enrollment will keep the school solvent another year, maybe. Then they're going to be back facing the same problem, and what will the solution be? More and derpier tests of course.

They won't be able to count on it going viral on it's own again, so they'll be creating sock puppet accounts and submitting them to Reddit themselves. It'll make the front page based on "Look who's back!" novelty, and another round of funding will come in, but less this time. More tests are devised...perhaps now Jesus actually returned from Heaven briefly in 1945 to personally defeat Hitler in one-on-one combat, or "washing machine" is now somehow an anagram for "Satan's machinations" and this is the reason society has fallen into the pits of hell. Eventually they'll just be submitting these test press-release style to the AP, hoping they will get some traction in the media.

Don't worry, a financially unsound institution will remain unsound even if it gets a once-only cash injection.

WhoGAS: soporific: For some, it's fear of losing authority.

Lady Indica: It's an important topic for some christians because for fundies the lynchpin is 'everything in the bible is absolutely true' and if it's not, it's all false.
Thank you for both your responses.  It's good to read more thoughts on the subject from others with whom I don't normally converse.

I guess it was a bit different back in my time...that really wasn't an important topic for us.  I mean, we thought about it, we asked about it and everyone from different denominations had their opinion of it but we were taught that if it wasn't in the Bible then it probably wasn't that important for God to have us know.  That was fairly logical to us and allowed for more freedom.

Maybe I'm just getting older and things bother me more.  Maybe I just need to accept that there is no difference between the people in my day and the people of this day...just the focus of topics change.  Tomorrow (figuratively put), everything bad will be good again and this generation will be sitting where I am wondering how it got so...different.

Anyway, thank you both again for responding; they were both good reads and I agree with, especially the ego, what you said.

What is interesting to me is how many fundies don't read the Bible at all and how many atheists know the Bible very well.

You see, Internet?

Do you see what you did?  Do you see what happens?

This is why we can't have nice things, Internet.

"You go back in time, you have carbon dating, all these things, and you have the carcasses of dinosaurs frozen in time." Robertson said in 2012. "They are out there. And so there was a time when these giant raptors were on the earth and it was before the time of the Bible. So don't try to cover it up and make like everything was 6,000 years, that's not the Bible."

Pat was taking his meds that day.

Walker: I find myself agreeing with Pat Robertson.....and this scares me.

Not to worry, you don't "agree with Pat Robertson". Robertson and the Young Earthers are just arguing over how to interpret the literal words in the bible. The Young Earthers add up the ages of men and come up with 6,000 years total age of the universe. To which Robertson says, nuh uh, ya gotta multiply every day of that 6,000 years by a thousand years per day, and comes up with the universe being 2,190,000,000 years old, leaving plenty of time for dinosaurs in their own "pre-biblical" time. It's two idiots arguing over the number of angels that can dance on the head of a needle.

Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.

I think so, Brain, but where are we going to find that much concrete mix this time of day?
