Back when I went to school, girls used to set each other's hair on fire in the hallway all the time. I thought it was just a fashion thing.

I think we can all agree that the most important question we should be asking about this (before ironically burning the Principal at the stake based on reports from the mother of what he said) is how are the standardized test scores at this school?

lack of warmth: Are you sure her hair was on fire?  Because her friends smacking her in the head with the excuse of putting her hair out would be a good prank.

/saying 'you have a bug on you' is only good for one smack, but burning hair is good for atleast a few.

Hah, I did that to my wife once. She goes insane when there are mosquitos around, and one time she was swatting away and I said "hold still" and gave her a slap on the forehead. "Did you get it?" "Get what?"

Some kids need a severe beating. I don't care how much horseshiat child psychologists shovel, classical conditioning works on human beings just the same as it does on animals.

You set a little girl's hair on fire? You get your head shaved and you stand in front of the lunchroom for a half hour every day holding a sign saying what you did. Inside the doors, out of your range of vision, is a button that will deliver a brief and painful electric shock to the offenders. Any student who wants to can press it up to three times each day.

Vangor: O'Conner said her daughter is really shy and has been too scared to go to school because of teasing. But she plans on taking her daughter on Monday and stay with her the whole day if she has to do that.

No, don't do this. She has friends now watching more closely for her, and before the other girls get back there needs to be some procedures in place to assure as minimal contact as possible such as directing them down other hallways.

Her mother said the school officials told her they couldn't do anything if it was just words.

Bullsh*t. You can minimize contact between periods, during lunch, and in classes as well as have some interventions via teachers not only for consequences for the girls but to support this girl in the case of further issues. If this continues with words, frequently, this would be bullying.

Butler transferred from North Chicago this year and has always been on the honor roll. O'Conner said she signed papers so she can skip a grade next year, but it will put her in the same class as the other two girls.

I doubt this will place them in the same classes. She is being accelerated, whereas the other girls are likely low achievers.

Gym class. That's where the bullies really shine!

Unless she's in the accelerated gym class...
