TofuTheAlmighty: Subby, you dolt, it's not waste when military contractors benefit.

The right companies in a few Congressional districts write checks, cash checks, and then write more checks. The circle of bribery continues.

No Republican cares if the Navy gets ships that cannot survive being hit by a single missile.

I'm curious as to how this report was marked as not being subject to FOIA requests.  How many other reports are out there that the public has every right to read and complain about that we're simply not allowed to see?  There's no national security threat here, just a lot of lies, bullshiat and the spending based on it being called out.

$37 billion for ships the Navy has no use for, but no money for air traffic controllers.

This is why we are in sequester.  This is why our government has such a huge debt.  This is why big government fails.

This is what Obamacare is gonna be like - billions at pet political causes that nobody wants, needs, or uses; but no money for critical medical procedures that many people will need daily.

If we are going to waste billions of taxpayers dollars it would have been nice to waste them on an American company.

Austal Ltd is an Australian company. So we are borrowing money from China to give to Australians to make flawed vessels that will likely be used to fight other nation's wars.

What's the difference between a Littoral Combat Ship and a Figgurative Combat ship?

Even in its surface warfare role, when all armaments are working as intended, the vessel "is only capable of neutralizing" small, fast-attack boats and it "remains vulnerable to ships" with anti-ship cruise missiles that can travel more than five miles (8 kilometers), according to the Perez report.
The Littoral Combat Ship is "ill-suited for combat operations against anything but" small, fast boats not armed with anti-ship missiles, the Perez report found.

What the deuce.

I'm not sure I understand the objection based on the 96 hour changeover.

"We need to be able to change system modules in less than 96 hours!"

"Okay, done."

"But it takes us weeks to get the modules to the site!  This is no good!"

. . . and this is somehow the fault of the ship designers??

Because when the facts are embarrassing, always go derp.

"The LCS program today is one of our very best programs," Navy Secretary Ray Mabus told the House Armed Services Committee on April 16. "It's coming in under budget. It's coming in on schedule. And it's coming in with capabilities that we have to have.

So who is Liar Ray Mabus? ...

Sounds like another A-12 program. The contractor comes up with a concept and then the Navy jumps in with a bunch of changes that drive up costs and makes the concept unworkable. If I recall correctly, Boeing got a lot of money for fulfilling the A-12 contract long after the program got cancelled.
