hasty ambush: ZeroCorpse: If the choice were offered for me to vomit after every meal, or pick up a gun and shoot foreign people for some vague political reason, I'd have my finger down my throat in a heartbeat.

Call me a coward if you like, but I'd rather risk my life and not take other people with me than risk my life and kill strangers because some politician told me to.

Your problems is that you see Islamic facists and commies as "people".  You are really doing the world a service by putting down rabid dogs or even fighting for womens' rights:

Taliban shoots a little girl in the head in Pakistan

I'd also be doing the world a service by not being fat. Believe me: If my upstairs neighbor lost a few pounds it would be a big favor to me. She stomps around up there too much.

Also, it's not always Taliban or terrorists we're fighting against, and the enemies of the past become the allies of the future. What makes a Russian a valued ally during World War II, a hated enemy during the Cold War, and an ally after the fall of the Soviet Union? Politics.

Japanese people were our mortal enemies in 1942. They're our best buddies, now.

Most wars come down to politicians having a pissing match with other peoples' lives. I'll be more in support of wars when we go back to the old standards, when the kings and leaders of the people were all expected to be in the battlefield with their troops.

If the President, Senate, and Congress had to personally fight in every war, you can bet we'd have fewer wars.
