And if dude actually would have intervened he would have gotten fired for "touching the kids". Damned if you do damned if you don't. I think he did the right thing.

Theyre kids. Why is it his job to break a fight up.
go ahead and put your hands on someone elses child.
see how fast your in the unemployment line. Damned if he does damned if he doesnt

hell when i was a kid in toronto the teachers werent legally aloud to break a fight up. Got in a few brawls on the playground.

nothing like a half dozen adults ringing bells and blowing whistles yelling stop it as you duke it out.

Not knowing what the rules are regarding what bus drivers are authorized to do (sadly, this is not obvious), the bus was sitting in front of the school; I think I'd have told the 18-year-old to get the fark off the bus or be arrested. That probably would have stopped the fight, at least.

But yeah, this sounds like the kind of damned if you do, damned if you don't thing that the bus driver could not have resolved satisfactorily regardless of what he did. If he physically broke up the fight, I don't doubt the 18-year-old would have complained about being manhandled by him.

It's too bad that shiatty parents have made working in schools such a shiat job.

Not surprised the school system threw him under the bus.  Hey-oh!

I'll be here awhile longer, tip your server.

Great Janitor: And that is why I am not in any form of authority or implied authority over children.  Two kids want to fight, let them fight.  When I was in high school and jr high I would have rather fought someone and had it out instead of being told not to fight and that if I did, under zero tolerance, I would be arrested and expelled.  At least when you fight, it's out of your system over and done with.

You ever been in a fight in high school or jr high? It was never two kids wanting to fight it was always three loser assholes, who would be in jail by the time they were twenty, holding down one kid and kicking the shiat out of him.

And there was a female involved?  If the girl was winning and the driver stepped in, you can bet someone would dig up a sexual assault charge.  It might be baseless, but that driver will still have that charge on his record.

He's not the boss of them. He did the right thing. He looked after the safety of the majority of kids who weren't being troublemakers.
Discipline the parents of the fighters.

FTA: Hollis can be heard telling other students to "clear the aisle and let them fight."

Defense Attorney:  Actually he was preventing the other students from escalating the melee into a mob fight.  That man should be praised as a hero and given a parade!

"a fight between an 18-year-old female student and a juvenile male student "

Nope. I would not step into that, either.  But I wouldn't yell, "clear the aisle and let them fight" and I'd certainly report that the male student was left bleeding.
