Sounds risky, especially their choice of ingredients including lye.

CSB time:

I met a guy at the SCA Pennsic war who had served as a staff officer for General MacArthur during the
occupation (he had a wicked samurai sword that he 'got the old fashioned way': he Tommy gunned down
the officer charging him with it), and he was driving around Tokyo with one of his adjutants and his
translator when he saw a sign that had a bunch of Japanese writing and the words "Suntory Distillery" on
it in English.

He asked the translator what that place was, and he said it was the Suntory whiskey factory.  Now, in the
back of the jeep they had a bunch of "Quarantined under order of General Douglas MacArthur", so they
nailed the signs on the entrance to the plant, and for about a week they had the run of the place until
the management called the office of the occupation to ask why their distillery had been quarantined and
no one could give them an answer.

OK, written out there isn't much to it, but he told it very well.

Good for the Japanese. I think that a larger variety of quality alcoholic beverages should be applauded.

I will even say that about the Chinese, once they stop flavoring things with melamine, lead, and cadmium.
