It's £65K/annum in the south of Wiltshire. I live in Wiltshire and my accountant lives in Netheravon, about 5 miles from Stonehenge and I can tell you that Netheravon is one of the cheapest towns to live in the south of England. You can get a 5 bed house for around £250K.

The druids aren't much of a problem now. It was a problem because it wasn't policed and lots of trouble makers went. Then they started policing it, and the troublemaking stopped. You've still got to manage it, but it's more of a traffic issue.

And Stonehenge is pretty quiet for a lot of the year. Anyone who's been there once in winter knows never to go again in winter. It's really damned unpleasant and exposed. Even in summer, it's not that pleasant. I generally point people at Avebury, which has its own stone circle, but you can also see the other neolithic sites of Silbury Hill and the West Kennet Long Barrow. Then head north, past Swindon and on to Cirencester 30 miles away to see a load of Roman stuff.

I'm surprised they don't have the whole site encased in a building to help retail.

I wouldn't want to make any more modifications to the site than absolutely necessary.  We've already figured out there's sites worth examining under the parking lot.
