Sounds about right for South Carolina.  Soooo glad to not live in the South.  Around my parts (CO), the pig simply would have been rounded up and taken back to the owner.  No fuss, no drama, and no stupid gun play.

Best part of the story: The guy tells bystanders he's going to go shoot the pig and haul it down to the local butcher shop...but when deputies get there he's all concerned the pig was going to cause an accident by wandering in traffic.

Uh-huh, sure buddy. That's probably why they didn't hand it over to you for pork chops.
