devilEther: The man who murdered Kurt Cobain
Some Bass Playing Guy: GAT_00: As opposed to Lennon, who by his own words regularly beat the women he was with.Comparing Cobain to Lennon is an insult to Cobain. Both of you should try not being dicks. The comparison of Lennon and Cobain isn't a bad one. Both of them were iconic figures that many fans held in higher esteem than most other popular artists. As far as talent is concerned, that's totally subjective. It's also entirely likely that people who have more respect forsomeone from their own generation or closer to their own generation. Some of us, however, can see past the bullshiat to realize that both Lennon and Cobain are deserving of respect. Lennon and the Beatles were influential and changed the course of popular music. Cobain and Nirvana did the same. They can be equally criticized for the problems they had in their personal lives. In then end, they had faults, just like everyone else. But yeah, let's turn this thread into a dick waving contest. That's always the best choice.

StrikitRich: Jeff Buckley died in 1997, so it can't be 19 years yet.
liam76: LewDux: [img29.imageshack.us image 800x459]JESUS ARE THOSE PEOPLE FOR REAL???
MaxxLarge: I was in college. Kurt Loder told me, on MTV News.JESUS, I'm old.
Tom_Slick: Kind of like Jerry Garcia the following year.
Kyosuke: Suicides don't make me sad. Doesn't matter who it was.
bugmn99: devilEther: The man who murdered Kurt CobainThis.
Lee's_Austin: Bedstead Polisher: A friend called that told me. When I picked up the phone and heard her voice I thought it was nice that she remembered my birthday, but she hadn't.Happy Birthday!
Blues_X: The end of one legend, the birth of another...[www.liveforfilms.com image 300x300]
Some Bass Playing Guy: Lennon and the Beatles were influential and changed the course of popular music. Cobain and Nirvana did the same
srhp29: We probably saw the exact same MTV News segment.
FirstNationalBastard: And, like Lennon, dying young made him into more of a legend than if he had lived.
Lunchlady: Kurt Cobain shooting himself was the best thing he did for Nirvana. If he was still alive he would be at Axel Rose levels of sad and pathetic.
AdolfOliverPanties: [www.eachnotesecure.com image 391x267]Greater loss.
Broktun: StrikitRich: Jeff Buckley died in 1997, so it can't be 19 years yet.[www.cheekychicago.com image 334x403]Came here to say this!
realmolo: Nirvana was running out of gas anyway.
Killer Cars: The more I think about it, Butch Vig deserves A LOT of credit for Nirvana's success. It's not so much I think the production values of Nevermind were so stellar on its own, so much as they were perfect to launch a particular scene into the mainstream via commercial radio. A song like "Smells like Teen Spirit" sounds so much fuller and more dense on the recorded track than a three-piece glorified garage band (at the time) should ever sound like./what I'm basically saying is that Vig very artfully and tastefully sold them out.
stuhayes2010: Nirvana/Cobaine made some awesome music, I am still a huge fan. I don't think Cobaine was the lyricist nor leader of a generation that Lennon was.
downstairs: I have no idea on any tensions in the band
The All-Powerful Atheismo: Yeah well 1 day ago today someone else important died
