jfivealive: Pay your bill crackhead

I have no doubt this is the issue here, but my cheap ATT phone locks up and does this on occasion, despite the bill being current. It's a simple fix, it needs to be turned off and back on, but this fine lady doesn't seem smrt enough to figure it out.

One of these day, ATT. One of these days...

Dairy King: deadsanta: Brother in law works for 911 dispatch, said this happens weekly, says it's rarely prosecuted because it's mainly old folk who don't know what to do when their phone stops working, and departments don't have the money anyway.

/thinks it should earn you an auto-fine.

911 dispatcher here. Yes, at least weekly. Had one person say "My phone told me to dial 911 so I did."

lol classic. I wonder if a FOIA request would get access to all the local silly 911 calls, that would make a hell of a compilation.

Believe it or not, it is appropriate to call 911 for minor domestic disputes, at least where I'm from. There is no public access to a non-emergency police number anymore. One time I asked a girl to leave me alone and stop contacting me, and she sent me a text the next day. I just wanted a cop to scare her with the threat of a stalking/harassment charge so she'd take it seriously. I dug around for like 20 minutes to find the desk number for the police, and when I finally got through, they told me to hang up and call 911.

At least it wasn't like my old Blackberry that if the screen was locked and you breathed on the phone it would call 911.

I don't know how many times I pocked dialed 911 with the screen freaking locked.  If you didn't lock the screen it would pocket dial everyone else in your contact list.
