It sucked here in New York.
2003-12-22 03:52:56 PM
I remember I was reading Fark about the earthquake....
2003-12-22 03:53:08 PM
I woke up at 3pm and started playing Kingdom Hearts...

I'm in NY.
2003-12-22 03:53:13 PM
I felt the earth move.
2003-12-22 03:53:22 PM
My cat went completely ballistic. Swinging lamp, clinking wine glasses. Nothing big. Santa Cruz, CA.
2003-12-22 03:54:03 PM
I had White Castle for lunch and will be creating my own earthquake about 9:00pm
2003-12-22 03:54:10 PM
Slow rolling of the house for about 30 seconds. Saved the document I was writing, just in case. Waited, wondering if it was going to get strong. It didn't.
2003-12-22 03:54:22 PM
Not very impressive in San Francisco.
2003-12-22 03:54:31 PM
I'll let you know when/if a tsunami hits. Maybe we'll get another 1/4 incher!

2003-12-22 03:54:33 PM

Well, I was naked as usual, drinking a lukewarm mug of Bud Light, then the room started shaking. I promptly dropped to all fours and started howling at the air conditioner.

Then I lamented the loss of my hot cocoa sampler, which spilled all over my Pergo.
2003-12-22 03:55:17 PM
I thought I felt the trimmers, but then realized it was only the explosive gas in my ass..........oh and the fact I am in Dallas.
2003-12-22 03:55:18 PM
Boo farkin' hoo. You chose to live in California. Deal with it. Asshats.

(a vote for me is a vote for the San Andreas Fault to widen to about 2000 miles)
2003-12-22 03:55:27 PM
Damn Terrorist!!!!
2003-12-22 03:55:29 PM
It felt like I was walking on a suspension bridge here in San Jose. Pretty cool, actually.
2003-12-22 03:55:31 PM
Ventura Co. - I was getting ready to take a shower and sort of fell into the wall and felt dizzy. I lean back and look at the door and it was swaying back and forth. I thought "Good god, I have smoked myself silly!" Then as I walked through house and saw beads swaying, shades swinging, lamps swinging, all things hanging were swinging. I still wasn't sure but have been through alot of quakes, then phone started ringing I knew.
2003-12-22 03:55:45 PM
Still waiting for the big one.
2003-12-22 03:55:50 PM
This is a tad redundant since that is what is currently happening in the news flash thread about the quake.
2003-12-22 03:55:53 PM
at work in woodland hills, 10 miles north of LA, it was fun. i owuld have guessed it to be a 2
2003-12-22 03:55:58 PM
I was changing the channel, then I went past Fox News and saw a graphic on the bottom of the screen that said there was an earthquake in California. I watched for about a minute, but when I saw there wasn't any big descriction or cool pictures I lost interest and changed the channel.
2003-12-22 03:56:04 PM
The dog whined a bit. But I think that's 'cause he wanted out.

2003-12-22 03:56:10 PM
when we had an earthquake in Maryland they had to cancel the simpsons to tell us nothing happened...
2003-12-22 03:56:13 PM
Wow, I'll never forget this day. Here I am sitting at my desk in Kansas City and then - BLAM! - out of nowhere I read this article on the web about an earthquake in California. I tell you, I felt like I was drunk trying to walk down the hallway after reading about people's experiences.
2003-12-22 03:56:37 PM
I'm in the top floor of an office building, so I got some good action out of it. It was a long one, they're usually over by the time you register that there's an earthquake.

I'm in LA, so I'm kinda tripping that it was felt in Santa Cruz.
2003-12-22 03:56:38 PM
Called my dad. He's fine. House is fine. I still have this unreal flu.
2003-12-22 03:56:39 PM
When I was living in Capitola (near Santa Cruz) we had a 6.9 that had the telephone poles waving back & forth. And foolish me, I just thought it was an aftershock from the Purple Haze grown in the nearby mountains.
2003-12-22 03:56:58 PM
ahh, but the real question is who is going to be the first one to blame this on the Bush Administration...?
2003-12-22 03:57:36 PM
I walked outside in my backyard and pulled a few Oranges off the tree to squeeze for juice thinking how nice it is not to have to live in Kal-e-fornia.

2003-12-22 03:57:38 PM
It shook the hives pretty strongly here in Connecticut
2003-12-22 03:57:58 PM

That's fine, just remember that the next time a flood/hurricane/tornado/snow storm/etc. strikes anywhere else in the country and people want a reaction.

It's news, believe it or not. It was a big event, earthquakes are unpredictable (even in California).

Chill the hell out.

Voting? Sure. Vote for me. I'm angry. Whatever.
2003-12-22 03:57:59 PM
Uh oh. I wonder they actually invented that crazy earthquake making weapon from The Core.

Awful movie, The Core. Yes, indeed.
2003-12-22 03:58:02 PM
Sat in my desk. Read "Earthquake is So.Cal".

Said "Woah......".

I live in Sacramento.
2003-12-22 03:58:24 PM
That flu going around is SARS. It's a big cover-up by the WHO after they lost containment of it several months ago.

Anyway, I slept through the quake.
2003-12-22 03:58:24 PM
10,000 points plus a 10% bonus because my class is seismologist and my Wisdom is over 16.

I'm sorry, that was horrible.

It confused the penguins here in the Zoo in Atlanta. They fell over backwards.
2003-12-22 03:59:02 PM
I opened up my hot cocoa sampler box and realized that somewhere, somehow, I had caused the earthquake in California by unleashing such evil.
2003-12-22 03:59:27 PM
Yeah, it wasn't strong, a nice little roller. But I felt drunk for about a minute and a half, except the girl in the cube outside my office didn't seem any hotter than normal. Yep, other than that, I thought I was drunk.
2003-12-22 04:00:13 PM
I'm in the PacNW, but a lot of the people I depend on for my month-end reporting are in southern CA. The only way this could affect me is if they're late getting their stuff to me and I have to work on Christmas day.
2003-12-22 04:00:41 PM
Fabulous attitude, AlgertMan. Fabulous.
2003-12-22 04:01:05 PM

Sorry, but in almost 2 1/2 years here on Fark, this is the lamest post ever.
2003-12-22 04:01:10 PM
Earthquake? What earthquake? I was sleeping...
2003-12-22 04:01:11 PM
20th floor of a high rise in Downtown LA. Building is on rollers....building swayed for a good 30 mins.
2003-12-22 04:01:16 PM
Felt dizzy in Mountain View. Failed to duck cover and hold. Proceeded to play Aenima by Tool. Remembered that California makes up 1/10 of America's population, which is why we're getting so much farking news coverage on this...
2003-12-22 04:01:39 PM
I was on the Hoover Dam, when I saw a nuclear missle fly overhead. Then shortly after, I saw a man in a red and blue leotard with a big 'S' on his chest, and who was sitting in a wheelchair, fly right overhead as well. I think he didn't get the missle, and some lady named Lois Avenue fell into a crack and died when the earthquake was started by the missile.

Then the superhero in the wheelchair got angry and spun the earth backwards to reverse time.

2003-12-22 04:02:45 PM
Felt nothing here in New Zealand. But we get earthquakes every other day - yes, even more often than you, California.

"One day, everything east of teh San Andreas fault is going to fall into the Atlantic Ocean"
2003-12-22 04:03:47 PM
i was eating a burger from wendys at the time...when i looked up at my computer screen on FARK and saw that there was an EARTHQUAKE!
