"Anyone wanting to collect some fur from Dogs Aloud can buy a container for £5 from the salon."

So the real reason behind the "recycling" effort come out at the end.

This guy and his twin sister (German Shepherd/Great Pyrenees) generate enough shed fur, weekly, to comprise an entire new dog.  I brush them outside and what fur I can't gather up blows away in the breeze.  Last summer, an old wooden birdhouse fell apart and hit the ground, busting open.  It was packed full of fluffy blonde fur.  I have no doubt that every bird and squirrel nest for a mile around is equally insulated.

Those are some real dogs in that picture. Except for the puppy in the middle.

With the prevelance of Advantix and other flea and tick treatments which remain in the hair, I wonder what impact this has on ticks and bird mites?   Some ingredients (e.g. Fipronil) are toxic to birds.

The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
