Wait, you mean someone who stridently opposes gay rights is really just trying to play down his own secret urges? No, this has never happened before.

Honestly, I can't see this as being a far fetched concept to anyone. He shows all the classic signs of self hate and loathing in his projection.

Dear Fred -

Jesus loves hates you and everyone else still thinks you're an asshole

Sincerely

America

Nah. Too obvious.

Besides, being gay would be the worst thing Phelps has done to gay people yet, so let's hope it's not true.

2013-03-15 1:30:29 PM
Maybe he's a pedophile. He's a priest and a cult leader, after all.

2013-03-15 1:31:26 PM
Is bisexual no longer a thing?
He does have kids.

Anyone ever seen that documentary "most hated family in america"?

My and my wife's immediate thought was: he is quite obviously a flaming homosexual.

2013-03-15 1:33:25 PM
Those that scream the loudest about gays are the biggest queers of all.

/Phelps is the patron saint of the closet

"I don't think anyone should judge or persecute another human being or any group of individuals based off of those personal, chosen, beliefs," she told NOH8. "I am against any and all forms of violence, discrimination, bullying or bigotry directed at someone else due to their personal lifestyle."

"But by God I'll speculate all day long."

2013-03-15 1:34:21 PM
She is probably right in some way about her speculation, but she also seems like someone looking for her fifteen minutes, rather than someone with a genuine epiphany looking to expose the evil douchery of the WBC.

That would be a little too convenient.  He probably does hate himself too, but for other reasons.

A flaming homosexual with apparently a lucrative grift. Seriously people, do we have to go through this every time?

/yes
//we do

I would say it would be far fetched to think this guy never had a gay sexual experience.  It is literally a stereotype now where the most anti-gay conservatives are actually the most in the closet gays.

I caught on after the first dozen or so.

2013-03-15 1:36:50 PM
If that's true, then it sort of makes me feel bad for the guy.  In the 1940s there was no way for a gay 17-year-old to live anything remotely like a normal life.  So he ended up channeling his anger and repressed sexuality into hatred.  What a sad and awful way to live, not only for himself, but for the pain he's caused to so many others.

Still, if there's a hell, he's going to burn in it.  He's hardly the only guy who was gay back then, and those guys found some way to go on with their lives without founding a church based on hate.

Is he in Narnia, then?.

It was probably with Tom Cruise.

Seeing how the trend is that the most ardent anti-gay protesters have been revealed to been in some sort of homosexual relationship (if we can call things like hooking up with a gay escort a "relationship"), the idea of Fred Phelps being gay shouldn't be a surprise at all.

/That's not to say all of them are gay
//Some of them are just plain ignorant and dumb

2013-03-15 1:38:15 PM
I think Fred Phelps likes his men the way he likes his sinners: flaming. I also think that if he would just come out, wear nut-hugger leather pants in public and be openly butch, a lot of his anxiety would fade.

so, are we doing WBC thread everyday now?

So reading the headline I just assumed that the Westboro Baptist Insider was like a newspaper or something.

Republicans must be feeling a tremendous amount of cognitive dissonance, since one of their patron saints is now suspected of being gay.

Either he's gay or she's making this up to promote her book.  Everything about this sucks.

If he's closeted, he so far in he's not only gone past Narnia, he's sailed to the end of the Eastern sea.

genner: Is bisexual no longer a thing?
He does have kids.

Having kids doesn't mean anything.  Some gay men view women nothing more than functioning ovaries & a uterus to provide them with the offspring they want.  They imagine they're bonking Brad Pitt or whoever lights their fire & hey presto, they have kids.

2013-03-15 1:48:59 PM
That boy scout who plowed him when they were young needs to come forward.

I don't.  Pity him, yeah.  Feel bad for him?  Not in a million years; should've gone to a therapist or something.

sure haven't: Anyone ever seen that documentary "most hated family in america"?

And the followup. Louis Theroux is a brave bastard. Some of his grand daughters are cute. Especially the one who left the cult.

The fire and brimstone pastor that leads my grandma's Lutheran church in Minnesota was outed. He wasn't always such a raging lunatic, but since I've left MN (and church in general), I've heard he's become a nasty jackhole. My grandma is too set in her ways to leave and I think she's there for the show of being at church and for the fellowship, but when I saw his YouTube videos and what he had become, I was shocked and disgusted. I wouldn't be surprised if Fred is screaming and yelling to be kept in the closet himself.

2013-03-15 1:51:34 PM
I'm an atheist liberal, and even I wouldn't ever describe Phred Phelps as a patron saint of the Republicans.

If Phred is a phag, who the phark cares? We only care that he's a hatephul monster.

2013-03-15 1:52:19 PM
Yeah, he got it on with other scouts or a scout master and either had a bad break up or felt so weirded out by the experience that he's spent his whole life trying to wipe out his feelings by attacking others. It'd be sad if it hasn't been so hurtful to others (including the family he's brainwashed).

Exactly. Sorry, but this *is* a form of bullying. And I kind of think that trying to degrade homophobic people by saying they are homophobic because they are gay is kind of insulting to gay people. Like, maybe they are just homophobic because they are an asshole?? Or they are a gay asshole, but not because they are gay- because they are an asshole...

2013-03-15 1:53:13 PM
Another one.
I wonder what the problem is with all these gay men. Doesn't say much for that lifestyle choice.

2013-03-15 1:53:22 PM
If someone asked me if I was something I find personally reprehensible, like a child molester, for instance, I'd be very offended. It may very well be the case that he isn't a homosexual, but he just finds the idea to be extremely offensive. If someone asked Obama if he was a philanderer and he got very upset, would a reasonable person think, "Oh yeah, he MUST be cheating. Look how upset he is."? No. That would be stupid.

I certainly think Phelps is an idiot, but let's try to be fair on how we judge people, whether we agree with their ideas or not.

2013-03-15 1:53:45 PM
Now all I can think of is Fred Phelps's nude, arthritic, wrinkled frame hatefully plugging away at some other old bastard's century-old balloon knot, his flesh-colored, semi-erect cocktail weiner getting smushed between a pair of loose-hanging, flappy asscheeks while he calls out his God's name in shameful, orgasmic self-loathing.
