Copper Spork: Let's see... Pit bull prevents police from rescuing lost child. Police abandon child rather than doing the right thing and shooting the dog so they could take him home.

When you're a cop, "The right thing" always includes shooting a dog.

If I remember correctly, there was a time in Victorian England when pit bulls were very fashionable fur their use as "nanny dogs" due to their protective nature. Glad to see everything worked out ok.

For once the police didn't rain a hail of bullets down on the dog.

A cat owner would have been more responsible with their human kids.

billybobtoo: I can't look. What did it do? Attack a kid or an old man?  My cat would never attack anybody or thing!

Your cat is a serpent with fur and it will attack anything that moves which is small enough to be killed. It probably kills 5 birds a month and its the reason why you never hear chirping in the morning, anymore.

His parents probably don't want to be identified for fear that people will hate on them for letting a 3 year old kid out of their sight long enough that he wandered off.

I have to agree that typically the problem with pitbulls is they're owned by the type of people who want pitbulls.

ltdanman44: this wouldn't have happened had the parent been watching the child

Which is why the cops should have shot the parents.

Mirandized: Why couldn't the father take the dog and the boy home? And why didn't the mother looker for her child before calling the police? These people are strange.

How could the police have a media event and take all the credit if they allowed the father to bring the boy home?

I had a cat growing up that followed us boys all over the woods. It protected us from dogs on several occasions, including all-out attacks on them. Ever seen a cat ride a pit bull like a cowboy on bucking bronco?

I remember a time when I was fighting another kid, were were wrestling around on the ground, and at some point I yelled out to my cat (who was watching), "help me!", and she came charging in. No bull. That stopped the fight, because both of us were "wtf, that worked" on that on.

She was an awesome cat. Taken out by an owl in her old age.

Jesus McSordid: Led the kid out into the wilderness and "protected" him? He was just waiting for dinnertime. ;^)

Ritley: Clearly the dog should have been shot on sight for daring to show a brave police officer any aggression.

If this were LA, the police would have called in the SWAT team and shot both the dog and the kid. Then, claimed that they were in fear of their lives and told the parients to suck-it.

Mother of the year candidate? So damn stupid she did not think to look for foot prints in the snow... Her kid 1/4 mile away AFTER calling for help, searching and finding him. The little bastard was probably within site when she hit panic mode....

She's probably a  receptionist at the local high school.
