(Sun Sentinel)   Pro tip: If you're driving without a license be sure to obey all traffic rules. But if you happen to get pulled over don't give the deputy a phony name unless you're sure you can spell it   ( sun-sentinel.com) divider line

Why is this news?  Almost everyone who gets stopped and does not possess a valid driver's license follows the same playbook.

They say they left it at home, then they say they don't  know their driver's license number or their social security number or give a fake one.  When the officer still presses, they either give a fake name or misspell their name.

The real fun happens when they give the name of a friend that has an outstanding warrant.

Homer: Hello, my name is Mr. Burns. I believe you have a letter for me.
Post Office Worker: Okay. What's your first name, Mr. Burns?
Homer: ...I don't know.

Classic one is asking how old they are, then asking when their birthday was.

I did that once when I was 19 and a party I was at got busted.

I gave him the first name of an ex-friend, her step dad's last name, her dad's home address and her dob. I picked her because I hated her and I knew she wouldnt have any warrants.

He knew I was full of shiat because he asked where "my" house was located and I was able to tell him. When he asked how old I was I could answer correctly bc my actual birthday was two weeks before that.

That became my go to fake name at bars too. I may or may not still use that name.
