I actually SAW a dumb-ass get his tie stuck in a paper shredder. It's just like TV, except more hilarious in person.
He also locked himself in the elevator (didn't push any buttons and panicked when the doors closed and nothing happened) and burned his face while trying to smell a hot pizza.

First honest and true dumbass I've ever met in person.

I mean, honestly. Why would I want to screw around trying to tie a piece of cloth around my neck in a specific way??? Just clip that sucker on and be done with it!

this has to be a troll, but I'll bite.

We had a guy come in for an interview once with a clip on tie. As soon as he left, we spent a good hour or so laughing. Then we spread the news around the office... no one believed us.

Clip on ties are for children. Would you hire someone who came into an interview in their Batman onesie? -Because a clip on tie is about half a step above that.

English is a language that learns from its speakers. Pretty much everyone calls it a Double Windsor - and if people understand it as such, that's what it is.

People who insist on "proper" English, disregarding actual usage, are generally compensating for insecurities. AKA twats.

Irregardless, I can't in good conscious use literally every word ever correctly. You're misunderestimating the language by doing it that way.

Also, if we're going to do the anecdotal crap, I wore them all throughout school and still do every day for work which trumps your (apparently meagre) stint of secondary education by a couple of decades, having been instructed by high-ranking naval officers (the Royal Navy having a long tradition of wearing Windsor Knots which I believe they still do) in the family on how to tie one and what it is called.

Breakaway ties. Tie it, mark the back of the neck when it is properly fitted, and then have a tailor cut it apart and sew velcro in so that it can come off with a good tug.

I have a few modified like that for work specifically to prevent another individual from choking me with my own tie.

I honestly hope that if that ever comes up in your line of work that you run away as fast as you can pinwheeling your legs screaming "NIGHT LIZAARRRRRD....... AWAYYYYYYYY!"
