The wife wanted to get the eldest girl (7) some Wonder Woman. She picked up the trade of the first few issues of the New52 run.

Having not reviewed it before purchase, turns out it may be a touch intense, maybe, for a 7 year old. I kinda like it, but I'm a sucker for new visual perspectives on the Greek pantheon (or any other, really).

For a kid?

The George Perez run is probably best.

But honestly, I'd recommend Marvel's old Spider-Girl series over anything Wonder Woman. There really aren't that many Wonder Woman stories that are both good and all-ages friendly.

I read more Marvel than DC, but every so often I pick up some DC titles and Johns reminds me that Bendis, for all his flaws, isn't that bad.

This is a little sad. Johns' Pre-"New52" Green Lantern were my first comic purchases on my iPad. His run of Green Lantern has been some great space opera and is clearly the inspiration of the excellent Green Lantern animated series now on Cartoon Network.
