I just did some calculations based on the number of beers I would guess I drink on an average night.  I put down about a 30 pack every 2 days, which equals 180oz. of beer a night.  This is equivalent to about 5.5 liters of beer.  I also drink about a pot of coffee and various other drinks during the day.  I smoke a pack and a half a day and had a really bad coke habit for a while.  When I was 18, I was told that the enamel didn't develop properly on my teeth.  Basically, it meant that I was doomed to repeated dental visits that would require crowns, root canals, and other fun stuff.

Anyway, I still have no god damn clue how your teeth can get that bad, even when you drink that much soda.  I brush once to twice a day and use Listerine.  I am 31 now, and just lost my first non-baby tooth biting down on a god damn concrete Ikea potato chip.  As long as my grill looks good enough for a woman that she welcomes the idea of me burying my face in her meat wallet, my teeth are fine.

If you work in the restaurant industry, this isn't crazy. 1L is about two 20-oz glasses with a reasonable amount of ice. You're in a hot ass-kitchen, the fountain is just on the other side of the passthrough, and you need something to drink, like, all the time. As smart as it might be to drink water all day, it ain't happening. If you drank two glasses of pop per hour, there's your 8L in one shift, and none left for when you get home. Hell, I regularly drink 3L of Pepsi a night just lying on the couch. Sure, I just almost died from blood poisoning, but a quickie root canal fixed me right up. Sure, the acid is eating through the enamel on most of my other teeth, but I'll just get falsies. Luckily, I have a history of diabetes in the family, so I'm sure I'll die of that long before I lose my last tooth. I'm highly addiced to the caffeine, badly enough that my body only responds to cola caffeine. Any coffee or tea will add to my heartrate, but won't satisfy my cravings. If I've gone long enough (20 hours or so) without cola, I start to crave chocolate--badly. The best part? I need the sugary, fizzy goodness to clear out the phlegm from smoking so many cigarettes, and I'm allergic to artificial sweeteners. Oh, God, somebody help me.

Shadowtag: DrMcNinja: As a doctor, I'm going to say this:

1)  What the fark is blood poisoning?
2) This guy probably does meth which led to the tooth loss

Just an educated guess

You are disgrace to your name.

Damn straight, a Ninja would never be so easily spotted in a fark thread

thornhill: I'm 29th with all of my teeth -- never had a cavity or anything.

Completely credit that to having barely drank soda since I was 18.

I stick with water, beer and wine, and mixed drinks maybe once or twice a month.

29th at what? I'm sure if you apply yourself, you'd move right up in the pack!

Coco LaFemme: some_beer_drinker: ajgeek: Everything's bad for your teeth. Some more than others. But I would say 8 liters/day is a tad overkill...

he is british, so...does it really matter?

He's Australian.  Adelaide isn't in England.  That said, I can't imagine anyone drinking that much soda a day.  Even at my highest level of consumption, I was drinking 4-5 cans of Diet Coke a day.  All that sugar and caffeine.....no wonder I was having trouble sleeping.  I couldn't imagine drinking so much my teeth rotted out of my face and I got blood poisoning as a result.

Ummm, you know Diet Coke has no sugar, right?
