Creoena: And I'm one step closer to deleting my Facebook account...the point that I'm asked to do this is the point I delete it.

How can you delete it if you can't access it?

/delete it now before it's too late

Macular Degenerate: Haha not a chance, Facebook. The day you ask me for this is the day I quit.

bucketloads of THIS. Facebook does not have my image, my real name, my real DOB or anything that can identify me and they never will. My privacy has not been eroded at all and I will not allow it to be. I use facebook to look at others eroding their privacy not to erode my own...

cock smokers at paypal asked me for this. Called them on the phone and told them off, the guy tried to be helpful and "get around" the ID req but I ended up instructing him to delete all traces of my account

Of course he didn't, I had to later go in and delete it myself.

Then I got emails for 2 months about "something is wrong with your paypal account, please log in"

and then 2 more phone calls before I think they actually deleted it
(except for the records they keep to sell my id and shiat I'm sure)

I don't get to know who is dumping millions into our democratic campaigns, banks don't have to verify dick and apparently get away with funding terrorism... but they get to have a copy of all my most sensitive documents (which will get stolen in a hack, eventually) to them? FARK THAT

They'll keep doing this shiat until people get smart and tell them all to fark off. It's time they are reminded who their services serve and what happens to stock prices when we tell them to get farked.

I got tired of all the random Jesus freaks and tea baggers that slowly came out of the woodwork on my original Facebook account, so I decided to make a new page for only very close friends and family. About an hour after I created my new Facebook account my daughter dropped by and she can't be away from Facebook for more than 20 minutes without withering and dying, so she logged me out and logged in to her account. After she left I went to log in and couldn't remember the pass for my new page (yes, alcohol was involved). When I went to the password retrieval page they said that I would have to provide my cell phone number so they could text my password to me.

Screw Facebook.

Other than places I do business with like Amazon etc, I have never given my real name or info to any website, even email accounts I use don't get that info. As a result, when you Google my name, zero results come up pertaining to me.

davidphogan: Huh. I've used them for years but never had any issues.

Consider yourself lucky to have beaten the average but your anecdote does nothing to assuage my feeling that it's a company run by douche-bags.

// Especially after their support of SOPA ... that they eventually backed out after public criticism. Quite frankly, godaddy is on my blacklist of companies that aren't to be trusted by the consumer. YMMV

Inorder for Facebook to change my wife's name after we got married, I had to scan a copy of our marriage licence, black out all of our personal info except for our names and upload it to them. All of that because they thought my last name was made up.
Took them 2 months to finally change her last name...

/I hate Facebook yet never disable my account, it's like crack...

I got an email yesterday from "legal action" that Facebook was the subject of a class-action lawsuit and had put millions in a fund to pay people that had been improperly tagged. Anyone else seen this yet?

As it turns out, the requests are official and are being done by Instagram and Facebook in response to suspected violations of the two social networks' distinct terms of service.

Why would anyone comply? Seems like it's a polite way to tell violators to get lost. Of course, violating Facebook's TOS could simply mean you posted side-boob.
