Adding an 'R' turns an outage into an outrage! Thanks, Letterman!

It's not the cold that kills you, it's having to reset the time on the microwave

Residents are advised to bring charcoal grills inside and light them to generate heat. Be sure to close all outside windows and doors tightly to maintain warmth.

jtown: Sure, if you live in some fancy palace. I lived in a 3 bedroom house for years that just had one of those wall heaters that buzzcut posted. No electricity needed. If we wanted heat in other rooms, we set up fans on a couple of stacked TV trays to blow the hot air towards the bedrooms and/or kitchen. And, yes, we did have a picture-on-picture setup in the living room. The "portable" TV with a handle sitting on top of the console TV.

Marcintosh: Lots of great ideas here, Everything from telling the elderly to "Man Up" to putting extra blankets on infants and praying your pipes don't freeze.
Shame the utility can't afford a better engineer to do it the right way.

you may be the biggest retard I have ever encountered here, on dark. Congratulations!

AverageAmericanGuy: The worst that could happen is probably a huge asteroid crashing into the Atlantic Ocean sending up a plume of molten rock and dust. Following the strike, a 500 foot tsunami smashing the shores of Europe and the Americas would obliterate the inhabitable areas of the continents for hundreds of miles inland. The wall of molten dust and rock would travel across the sky and ground causing raging forest fires in the remaining lands. As the dust blotted out the sky, the Earth would plunge into an ice age and all but the smallest species would die of starvation in the subsequent decades.

From the ruins, insects would emerge and subsequently evolve into intelligent beings. They would be highly organized and have a strong work ethic. After several millennia, they would perfect interstellar space travel and invade Sssla, wiping out the indigenous Sakkra civilization. Taking the Sakkra technology, they would set their sights on Meklon and the Meklar civilization.

Becoming aware of the Earth, the technologically advanced Meklars would send warships here to wipe out all life on the planet. After a valiant struggle, the insect life on earth is vanquished and the planet is left irradiated and lifeless.

And that's pretty terrible.

WTF did I just read?
